This article from the New York Times takes a look at how G.E. is using the Beijing Summer Olympics to advertise to a global market, stressing it’s innovation in the area of renewable green energy.
If you have about 15 minutes of spare time this is a look at the Shanghai design scene put together by Danwei. There are some interesting comments made about China and it’s developing creativity.
Khaki Creative & Design Inc. is a brand consulting firm based out of Beijing, who have a very impressive portfolio. Nod Young, the creative director, also has his own flickr account and a Computerlove profile with design work. I love the fusion of traditional and modern styles. More samples after the jump.
While in Taiwan I picked up a copy of a creative magazine called ppaper that is put together by Pao & Paws . This is what I found most impressive:
“Pao was the creative director for J. Walter Thompson Taiwan and for Leo Burnett Taiwan. He was responsible for accounts including Ford Motor, SK-II, Johnnie Walker, MTV, Hennessy, Reebok, and Kellogg’s. Before that, he was designer and art director for Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Oregon. Imin Pao received a M.F.A. from the Art Center School of Design and a B.F.A from Rhode Island School of Design.
Just a quick post before I head off to class. This is a flash based interactive website by designer Jonathan Yuen. It won a Webby award last year and it’s a must see.
